General Manager (Manufacturing)

Our client is an award-winning exporter, developing and manufacturing products and solutions to the highest of standards. Innovative and pro-active, they build every product at their Northern Ireland headquarters ensuring total control over quality, manufacturing integrity and customer communication throughout the entire process. They now seek to make a senior appointment in a General Manager who will provide leadership and drive growth without compromising profitability or core values such as innovation, safety, quality and reliability.

The General Manager will work closely with the Company owners on the development and implementation of the Company strategy and corporate objectives to include profitable growth. They will ensure the business has the technical capability to meet these targets and will strengthen R&D activities to identify further improvements and innovations in current products and to develop new products. The General Manager will direct and control day-to-day operations to include capacity planning, production, supply chain, health & safety, technical / quality assurance and warehouse operations, ensuring the delivery of products is completed in full, on time and to specification. They will constantly review processes to ensure effectiveness and efficiency, managing the facilities and capital assets of the business within Company and legislative requirements. The successful candidate will establish and maintain positive working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders, agreeing reporting structures to ensure that business decisions can be executed without delay.

Applicants should possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Significant experience in a senior leadership role within a heavy manufacturing / engineering environment with an emphasis on best-in-class production management systems and results.
  • A proven track record in leading a high performing team, driving commercial results and improvements in each area of responsibility, and ensuring staff engagement.
  • An ability to develop a strong management team and to drive accountability in a fast-paced, dynamic business.
  • Evidence of successfully setting and measuring key performance indicators, metrics, best practice assessments and performance management against these.
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking and planning, with the ability to evaluate plans and activities in terms of “bottom line” impact.
  • Pro-active and flexible to adapt, responsive to both business and customer needs.

This position would suit a senior operations leader from a heavy manufacturing background seeking to broaden their remit in an already successful business.
