Head of Engineering

To this end, the company has created a number of new senior appointments to direct and develop its teams at a time of exponential growth.

The Head of Engineering is a vital role to the business and will lead individual teams across technical engineering, new product development, projects and product engineering in a high-performance, quality-focused culture. They will be a highly experienced, commercial and competent senior engineering leader with an already proven track record in managing change in a constantly evolving manufacturing organisation.

The role holder will develop engineering policies and strategies, including the appraisal and selection of new technologies. They will lead the engineering planning process for new projects and products, ensuring effective and successful project delivery. Driving manufacturing process development, product launch and continuous improvement activities, the Head of Engineering will drive efficiencies and bring new ideas to further enhance their teams. Fostering industrial and academic partnerships, nurturing relationships and exploring collaboration ideas will be a key part of this position.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

• Significant experience in a senior engineering leadership role, managing medium to large teams.
• Proven ability to coordinate complex technical projects through the project life cycle.
• Experience with managing and implementing PDM and other CAD data management systems.
• Strong understanding of engineering first principles, supported by technical qualifications and practical experience.
• Familiarity with project gateway disciplines and ability to work under process, adhering to associated process disciplines.
• Skilled negotiator with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers.
• Excellent communication skills to engage with customers, suppliers and the entire team.
• Third level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Chartered status, or working towards this, with a relevant institution (e.g., IMechE, IET, etc.)
