Head of Human Resources

Our client is a leading Northern Irish manufacturer who has consistently invested in its capability to be the number one trusted partner in its customers’ businesses. Its ambition is demonstrated in its constant innovation and its quest to lead in technical advantage, research and development, quality, service and reputation.

The Company continues to grow through its own internal development and through opportunistic acquisition. It has reinvested heavily in world class state-of-the-art technology, but it is the combined knowledge and expertise of its greatest asset – its people – that drives advancement and optimises engineering. The Company places a huge focus on its people agenda, investing in employee development, engagement and succession planning. It now seeks to appoint a Head of Human Resources who will further drive the people agenda, ensuring a highly skilled, highly engaged workforce for the future.

The Head of HR will support Managers in embedding Company culture and values throughout the organisation, encouraging leadership and collaboration to increase employee engagement, empowerment and ownership. They will deliver coaching to line Managers on leadership capability and support a “coaching culture” where Managers in turn coach and develop their own reports. They will support Managers in driving performance improvement initiatives, providing guidance on best practice and assisting in developing appropriate measurements.

The Head of HR will maintain strong employee relations, equipping Managers to deal effectively with any issues (personally overseeing any complex matters) and building relationships with trade unions or staff representatives. The role holder will support talent management strategies across the business through succession planning, assessment of relevant competencies, identification and acquisition of future talent / potential gaps and retention of top performers.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant HR management experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Success in "business partnering" providing HR expertise to senior stakeholders.
  • Evidence of developing, implementing and measuring people strategies to drive improved engagement and performance.
