Managing Director

Our client is a hugely successful manufacturer recognised globally as a category leader in their industry. Through investment in people and technology they have achieved consistent growth with customers worldwide and are well-placed to secure significant further expansion. At this time of opportunity, the Company owners have created a new role for a Managing Director to provide strategic leadership as the business continues to evolve and flourish.

The Managing Director will grow the Company brand through people, new contracts, new products and new territories whilst maintaining the strong culture the Company is so proud of. In conjunction with the Company owners and with responsibility for P&L, they will devise an overall business strategy, setting ambitious growth targets and devising activity programmes to achieve these. They will ensure appropriate commercial and operational resources as well as organisational structures and will develop an inspirational leadership team who will in turn inspire their own teams, empowering and equipping them for further success.

The Managing Director will forge strong, meaningful partnerships with existing customers to uphold the Company’s best-in-class standards and will work closely with the commercial teams to further establish new partners, new markets and new innovative solutions. The Managing Director will drive accountability at every level of the Company and, as it grows, pro-actively retain the values-based culture it holds dear ensuring this is visible in all interactions.

Applicants should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience as a Managing Director leading and inspiring a large multi-disciplinary team to deliver commercial and operational results and in managing P&L.
  • A demonstrable record in scaling a business and a team to deliver sustainable growth ideally in an export setting.
  • Significant senior leadership experience within a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Commercial success in developing and delivering on corporate growth strategies through setting and achieving business targets, improving revenues or margins and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Previous success in building, developing and empowering strong leadership teams.
  • Evidence of forging solid working relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Previous experience of project-based manufacturing would be advantageous.
